...a warranty question.? I recently purchased a 2001 Saab 9 5 V6. It's a beautiful car and it drives smooth, but once in a while, it does a really odd thing. I will be out running errands and at least once a day, I will get back into my car and insert the key but the car won't start. Sometimes I have to wait several minutes before the car will start. The most time I have wait is like 45 minutes. There are other little glitches the car has and I think they are all related to this one problem. I've had it at the shop twice and the last time they sent it to a Saab expert. He found some kind of pinched wire and replaced it to the tune of like $368.00. Later on that very night, I went somewhere and when I left, the darn car wouldn't start again. We sat there for about 15 minutes and then the car finally started. Has anyone had this kind of experience with their Saab?
Now for my warranty question. When we purchased this car, we bought a warranty with it - a 3 yr unlimited bumper to bumper warranty. I realize that this does not cover every little thing but I'm wondering if they finally find out the problem and it is covered under warranty, am I eligible to be refunded for the money I have put out so far to fix this problem. Also, since the problem wasn't fixed, shouldn't I be refunded for the $368.00 I put out so far since it didn't fix the problem? I'm really worried about having to repeatedly take my car to the shop - put out money - and not have my problem fix - but go broke in the meantime. Any advice is appreciated.

Hi sandyls4,
I'm a very unhappy Saab owner. I have the same model as yours except mine is a 95 SE. I don't think there are many of those. Anyhow, when the car works, it works great. When the car breaks down, it's expensive and you have to really find a great place to take it. There are many places that assure you they are Saab specialists, but they don't know anything about the car. My troubles started couple of years ago when I purchased mine after my previous car was totalled by the insurance company. I didn't want to go in debt by buying a new car, so I thought buying a low mile good looking used car would make more sence...well I was wrong. My car has had electrical issues starting from the Alternator. Had it replaced 3 times already. the whole thing about the car stopping for no reason. It happened in the city and on the freeway. Then trickle down to now having transmission issues. So, it seems to me as if the electrical system is faulty or very fragile. If one thing gets damaged, the damage extends to other electrical parts. I have spent in repairs in the last 2 yrs over 11K. and that doesn't count the regular maintenance. I hope your car does not give you the same trouble mine has given to me.
My advise, if you are able to trade it, do it. The money you can potentially spend in repairs, instead use it to put a hefty down payment on another luxury car.
About your extended warranty, if you purchased a thrid party warranty, those are a complete rip off. Unless it is from Saab directly. Not the one's sold by the smaller car corner lot.
