Hi
New to this so please forgive my rookie-ness. My turbo is shot on my AERO 2.3T 2005. Should I have it reconditioned, or take the opportunity to modify? If I do choose the modify route, what can I really do that's worth-while considering my stock ECU and downpipe with CATs. My airbox has been modified with a pipercross filter and I might consider removing the cats, but a 3" exhaust system is not possible with my present state of financial implication (worn out turbo needs to be replaced/fixed!). I'd like to have a 3" complete system built but that would only come later. I'd like to get the EGT down if I can by modding the turbo in some way but still keep the present oomph (going 16T or something?). I would not mind that much if I had the turbo coming in at a later stage, say 2500RPM instead of the standard 1900RPM if that means lower EGT's and a longer pull up the rev range. Is it possible with another size wheel or housing or machining of the housings? I've thought of water injection as well, but that comes down to the same money than the 3" exhaust. I've got big plans for my jammie but the money does not accumulate at the same rate as my plans do. I'd like to try my hand on mapping with trionic suite, but still need to do some homework on that and acquire a wideband AFR and pyrometer.
