How much does it cost to upgrade OnStar in a 2002 Saab 9-3?

I'm thinking about getting a 2002 Saab 9-3 SE and just found out the systems needs to be upgraded to digital. How much does it cost? Is it worth it? How long does the installation cost?

I called OnStar with the exact same question a few months ago, and their response was basically, Sorry, we are no longer supporting the OnStar system that your car uses... we would be happy to provide OnStar support for you with a newer vehicle. OnStar has no plans at this time to convert the analog systems to digital.

My guess is that if there was a replacement system somewhere, I doubt that it would be worth the cost. Installation would be fairly simple, I'm guessing, since all they would have to do is rip out the old Onstar ECU and put in a new one.... since my onstar died, I decided to just remove the entire unit. Not very difficult to do.
