what's everyones opinion? Is it reliable? Are parts easy to get? Efficient on gas?

i have a 99 not a 90, but this is what my opinion is. My car even though it is a newer year is GREAT on gas i get aprox. 30 mpg (that's if I'm not speeding etc obviously) Parts in my case are easy to get, but the engine is completely different than say a ford... it kind of looks like its on its side and so makes fixing things if your a first timer on a saab kind of difficult (more time consuming the first time i should say). If you go to a mechanic expect to be paying more than you usually would. However, even though they may be more expensive to fix at a mechanic - IT WILL LAST IF YOU TAKE CAR OF YOUR CAR- so it all depends on how you look at it.

I have a Saab 900 T16S (1989). Fuel economy is OK (30 or so to the gallon if you go easy). The parts are no problem, but I would suggest getting an independent specialist for servicing. So far it has been reliable. 137,000 miles so far. (Hope I don't regret saying that!). If it's a good example and you like classic Saabs, go for it.
