When the AC button is pushed on in my 85' Saab 900 Turbo, why does it stall...

...constantly when it idles? When i drive my 1985 Saab 900 Turbo, and i turn on the AC button, why does it constantly stall when i come to a complete stop, at a stop light, or a stop sign for an example?
